I thought I would start another thread since the long and well contributed to original thread was deleted when it popped up during the last Off Topic sub-forum separation push.

What good vino have you found lately in your culinary and relaxing pursuits?

We recently tried some McWilliams Merlot which is an Aussie red and found it to be quite good. The Shiraz was also tasty and reasonably priced.

What are your current go-to reds?

good topic, i heart vino.

most recent find: rojo mojo shiraz (spain). very nice stuff, and very reasonably priced.

a few years ago, a "Stew Leanards" wine store opened very close to the house, its literally a warehouse of wines, with great reviews and descriptions posted throughout the store. the staff is very knowledgeable and they have multiple tastings a week. really a wine lovers delight, and it's helping me pick up more and more gems. cheers!

While not a red (although it has skinless Pinot Noir) this is an excellent sparkling wine at < $15.00:

2007 Bergstrom Durant Vineyard Pinot Noir. (Oregon)
I bought it at the vineyard a couple of years ago and decided it had "matured" enough.
It is probably better than I deserve....

Cameron Hughes is a guy with a good palate who buys overstocks from good wineries and sells them under his name. He can't reveal the winery but sometimes I can guess it from the details on the label.
They are always available in our local Costco and he has an on-line sales program too.
I have always thought te wines were good value, never had a bad one, occasionally one will knock my socks off and I hurry back for more before the always-limited supply is gone.

Klinker Brick - excellent red zin. Just paid $15.99/bottle, less 10% for the case here in NJ. Same for Bogle and Rodney Strong. Some of the better Strong's get quite spendy, though.
