Like the original. Not so much the American version.

The American version seems like it's trying to hard to capture the chemistry that the English version has but is coming up short.

Unfortunately, the American version pales in comparison. It tries too hard and doesn't come near succeeding.

Yeah, I agree, US version comes up a bit short, but it is a good idea to have one guy who can actually drive! They did the same with the German version.

I agree with all of the above posters. I don't know if the american version is still on its regular channel but it has been dropped from ONDemand in my area.

Watching History's Top Gear makes me ashamed to be American.

American version...no chemistry and no originality.

English version...all chemistry and very original.

Why do we even bother?

Apparently I'm in the minority here but the American version is starting to grow on me.

I thought last Sunday's episode, with the race against the mountain bikers across San Francisco, was a distinct improvement over the premier.

Not as good as the Brits to be sure, but starting to get watchable.

And, where I live, BBC is not offered in Hi Def.

American version needs to fire all the writers immediately. Just awful writing.
And the show falls flat because they're trying so many of the same bits the British version did, only they're doing it worse.

Oh, and the rah rah car reviews can go out the window too. Top Gear UK works because they guys seem honest and genuine, even if you don't agree with what they have to say.

They try way to hard to force joke on the viewers. As many have said it just doesn't come off genuine. Top Gear UK almost sound unscripted and just flows.

I do like Tanner Foust though. He is a great drive and really does deserve shows better than the ones he has been on. Really, really great driver. But the I don't even believe the other two are driving in some of the shots.

Oh and the test track sucks compared to the UK one. Not fun to watch Stig laps.

I will continue to watch both of them, as I am a car guy.

I agree that the English version is killing the U.S. version at this point. I have heard that in the early days the Brit version was lame too so I say give the guys a chance to develop some chemistry and we'll see. Tanner is clearly the best of the Americans and the bubba guy is clearly the worst.. The Jersey guy at least adds some humor..

I'm a huge fan of the original and therefore refuse to entertain this 'American version' nonsense.

Let's see.....

1 drifting driver plus 2 comedians equals totally unwatchable American version of Top Gear.

1 Auto writer plus 1 car nut plus 1 vintage motorcycle geek equals TONS more enjoyment out of the UK version.

I am also in the minority. I think that most people are just being way critical. A think Tanner and Rutledge are great and do indeed have chemistry that will likely get better. I however do not think that Adam is a good fit for the show.

I hope that the show gets a fair shake. I think there have been some good skits already.

When you watch the BBC series some of the the skits are much better than others too. They also have a rather lame duck but perhaps not so much as we have.

One of the appealing factors in the BBC series is the cars seem more exotic (even if the are just racing some old Fiats) than cars we have seen on the streets for decades.

I hope everyone gives it time. I really enjoy it.

my loyalty is with TG-UK.

TG-USA's feel is just too fake, awkward and scripted for now. i watch it as filler while in-between TG-UK seasons. Tanner's driving skills are real though.

ditto for this neck o' the woods... Unfortunately, the Australian version pales in comparison. It tries too hard and doesn't come near succeeding.

BTW, anyone tried reading Hammond's autobiography? Excruciatingly ordinary cash in after the unfortunate 'dragster' incident.

The guys that do the Brit version are actually funny and articulate. I am researching cars and I'll tell you I'll never buy the BMW X1 after reading Jeremy Clarkson's review... I almost lost my job because I was reading it at work and absolutely howling with laughter. Google 'Jeremy Clarkson BMW' or 'Jeremy Clarkson review'. It's priceless stuff.

Having never seen a UK version until last night I thougt our show was very good. Unlike any show I had ever seen before and was really enjoying them.

Then I had to go and stream the orginal on Netflix last night and wow it is much better. Less PC and quite a bit of humor you could not get away with on US TV. Alot of talk about porn and murdering prostitues.

Good thing for me is now I can really enjoy them both becasue I got used to the US dynamic first before being spoiled by the original.

it's on the history channel, which with any luck, that's what the u.s. version will be soon. for me, brit version is better by a degree of magnitude. i love that they will take the piss out of ANY car and any car company. that attitude could never fly here, as the channel would be afraid of pissing off advertisers.

i find the chemistry of jeremy, richard and dr. slow to be nearly perfect. even the mrs. loves watching it.

Thanks Climb. I totally agree with you about the UK version, I love the fact that they will talk trash about ANY car or manufacturer...it is such a refreshing change from the "everything's great" attitude to keep the sponsors happy. My wife will often watch it with me too...she really enjoyed the episode when they drove the 4x4's in South America.

I agree with Z3c - give 'em a chance. I've been loving the BBC version for several years, but they've had they're ups and downs as well. Apparently the first two years of the BBC "revival" from a straight car review show were awful.

Cheers!

Love the UK version...

The one here I havent been able to watch for more than 10 minutes.

UK top gear ARE characters...
US top gear PLAY characters...

I watch them both and also prefer the UK version. Really enjoyed the complete bashing they did recently on the Porsche Panamera looks (but they did enjoy the performance).

Tanner Foust is the real deal when it comes to driving. I really enjoy the 'Battle of the Supercars' shows on Speed where he battles Paul Tracy. That is some funny stuff and some nice cars that they thrash (and sometimes break).

How is it that I say one thing about a fat jogger (a quote from Jeremy on TopGear - "you woun't look so smart when you get blown off the line by a fat jogger") and half the forum gets all upset, but they can call every Audi owner a cock and it's OK???
