Anyone have any time on one?? Worth $500? Much better than the 705?
Also, dumb question.......the cadence sensor that some come with, is that also the speed sensor for indoor use (uses a magnet on the rear wheel?)?
Thx!

The cadence and speed sensor are the same thing. It allows you to ride indoors since the speed is being read off the rear wheel.

It is mounted on the drivetrain chainstay and there is a little adjustable foot that extends back toward the wheel that reads a spoke magnent.

It works great.

It allows you to ride indoors using the spoke sensor for speed / distance rather than GPS.

Just got one. Still playing with it. Seems pretty cool.

I got the bundle for the GPS function. If you don't need maps than just stick with the Garmin Edge 500.

Just used the search function on the forum, and see there was another thread a couple of months ago where someone was telling people not to buy the 800 yet, too many bugs....hmmm...
Best price I've seen is PBK with one of their 10-20% coupons.

A couple of my buddies have them for the race across America or RAAM and seem to like them. I really think it comes down to functionality if you need and 800 with all its bells and whistles so to speak then spring for it if not you may be better served with another model.

No first hand use, but I read on another forum that the font and text clarity on the 800 is much harder to read then on the 705/605 series.
