Rouleur-they sent me one to see f I wanted to sell it. They require a 20 copy buy so probably won't BUT...in a word, the best bike mag I have ever read. Expensive paper, beautiful photography, very down to earth, practical writing.

They have been around for about 3 years..get a subscription, you won't regret it. I got one. Expensive(published once every 2 months-$20 per issue) but just tremendous.

sorry, just can't do $20 for a mag.... I realize it only brakes down to about $10 a month, but I just can't pony up $20 for a mag no matter how nice the pics are... especially with the net now having pretty much the same pics and most of the stories eventually...

just my .02...

Well, then don't buy it. I think it's like getting 6 coffee table books per year. At least go down to a book store and look at it. It is way better than the pablem you get on the interweb. NOT your average bike mag at all.

saw an issue, very beautifully done. $20 per issue is a bit steep. might buy it once an awhile if the contents warrant it.

Hell, yer average Cyclist nowadays spends what ? $500 for a pair of bike shoes, $250 for a pr. of shorts - etc. etc.

Makes $20 for an issue of Bike Pornography seem kinda cheap.

I can't recall reading an issue of Roleur ?
Is it full of Rapha-style "epicness". To some of us, that gets tired awful quickly.

I'm a subscriber and really like the mag. Yeah, it's expensive but I consider it cheap compared to the price for Bicycling, which I consider junk food. The articles are much more interesting and fairly well written...and the pictures are terrific.

If you don't want to eat the full cost, there's avid demand for pre-owned copies of Rouleur.

I don't subscribe to many periodicals, so my mag budget consists of Rouleur, Bicycle Quarterly and Adventure Cyclist. Once in while I will pick up the Bicycle Times if it looks interesting.

If you can't find Roleur at you local newsagent, look at a copy of
"Double Gun Journal", same idea, same price too.

Has Bicycling published an actual article in the last 15 years? Whenever I have looked at it, it's been pictures with captions, maybe a paragraph at best.

Glad to know there's something out there worth subscribing to.

No one pays for bike porn anymore. You get it for free on the net. It's got a fetish for everyone: 29'ers, 69'ers, Ti, belt driven, chains, indexed, SS, nude carbon, tubulars, Italian, French, German, battery powered, and on and on.

The pictures are great.

But Aperture Magazine is $8 an issue
BlindSpot is $20/issue BUT the printing is far better than R.

They should offer an online subscription. It's probably the only computer based pr0n I would buy.

1+ on bicycle quarterly. Bicycle Quarterly is geared to steel randonneuring bicycles which I have a fondness for. I have not read Bicycling in years. I used to really like Bicycle Guide in the late 80's.

There's a couple of Rouleur knock-offs on the newstand, like Road. Nice pics but the articles are lacking and not worth the $$ in my estimation. I'm making a generalization but it seems that mags in the US (except the New Yorker and Vanity Fair) don't want to write a decent article. It's mostly bullet points put together in a paragraph. Have we been dumb-downed that much?

I'm amused by the reincarnation of Road Bike Action, which is like the Motor Trend of road bikes. All it needs are some acceleration, braking and skid pad measurements. :p

+1 on the old Bicycle Guide. I still have one or two select issues in my file cabinet.

Rouleur is a fabulous magazine, I have subscribed to it for a couple of years.

I no longer do, as I had some sort of bizarre problem renewing this year. I had a series of emails from them lasting for 2 months alternately telling me my renewal was confirmed, then confirming my cancellation, then confirming my renewal, then ......

At the end of the day I just phoned them and told them to rip up my customer card and forget it. The hassle wasn't worth it.

The irony is that at the end of it all it was some problem that AMEX were having conversing with Rouleur's servers or something. Still, not worth the hassle.

Now I have to wait until I'm somewhere that carries it and buy back issues in bulk.

Still a good magazine.

A good six pack of beer is 9+ dollars and only lasts a couple of hours. You get to use it one time. $20 for a magazine I can look at and read more than once doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

Fourflys, I'd send you an issue but I'm afraid the pages will get stuck together after you "use" it, er, I mean read it . . .
