Glad you liked one enough to save it. I don't know about the riding skills. I had the front wheel slip out on a corner late in the ride. The sun was setting and the roads were starting to get icy. Luckily it caught a dry patch and I stayed up.

Yo - I went down hard on ice even with studded tires last January - props to you for the pics -and providing me an inspiration to head out when the ice hits OK.

As always, great pics. I especially like the one of your riding companion. We went back east, to Boston, a few weeks ago. I learned then that California has thinned my blood and made me weak. I can't believe that I used to ride to class every day in Madison. Frozen snot: so nasty!

I don't think I had a single ride with another person all year.

You should come out here for a break. We've got a big group that rides daily. Except when it splits up into smaller groups. What size frame do you ride? If you hit the lucky number, you wouldn't even need to bring a bike.

Oliver-pal, this is so cool! I missed my Titan, it's actually stripped down to its bare frame stored away in the garage in our house in Texas.

I didn't realize you are up in Northern IL. Let me know the next time you want to come up to StL, I would take you out to some of the nicest riding area in this parts.

It's kind of hard to manipulate the camera while riding with 2 pairs of gloves, but most of these pics were taken on the move
No kidding...I don't like to take my gloves off for anything and doubt I could take pics with winter gloves on. I'm impressed.

Cool bike. Weather looks cold. I rode last weekend and the temp was about 38 (not all that cold). My fingers hurt, my toes hurt. Coudn't wait to get home.

Well, you'll fit on any number of my bikes. That said, I should warn you that we have these weird topographic imperfections out here. Hills, they're called, except for the big ones, which are known as mountains. When we ride up them, we seem to get winded really quickly. It's all very inconvenient -- but not as bad as ice.

I've got a cousin in St. Charles, so have another reason to go to St. Louis. I'd really like to ride the Katy trail sometime. Thanks

The Katy's nice for some rides, but Weisan and I can show you some even better routes :)

Nice pics Mark... Looking forward to seeing the blue/white frame built up.

I'm down for a ride if you make it down this way...We can ride together after Weisan and Louis drop us in the hills. Traffic isn't too bad out west where they tend to ride. Maybe head down here for one of the metric/centuries...???

Titan content attached...

Our family has about 1000 acres Northeast of BLoomington, IL. These pictures look like they could have been taken from any number of roads in that area. Haven't been back there since i was little. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful that part of the country can be.

Great pics. You were lucky to get out today... last riding day for awhile, I'm afraid. And the Titan looks so much better outside.

Ari, there's goin' to be a lot of frozen snot here in Madtown over the next few days...

Beautiful. Reminds me why I love riding. And with your temps and conditions, keeps me from whining about 33F here in NC today.

Thanks for the great pictures! They really brought me back in time...I rode bikes in SE Wisconsin in the mid 80's, and those roads are familiar looking. Well, I got lost several times and ended up in Northern Illinois..... but at least it wasn't winter then.

Great place to ride! Cheers!

Oliver-pal,

Louis and buldogge are right, the traffic out west ain't bad at all. But I will be happy to take you on a spin at the historical Katy Trail. The regular paper route that I do during the week takes me to Creve Coeur Lake loop that connects up to the trail.

Here's a pic of my titan. There are two things, maybe three, that endear the bike to me: it's unique cross-hatch design on the top- and down-tube, the nice and neat top-tube internal cable housing and...of course, the sublime ride of steel.
Come late March or early April, it's real nice out here, hope to see you then.
It hit 56 degree yesterday afternoon at 3 pm, I quickly dislodged the bike from the trainer and went out and rode on the lake loop. Wow, what a change! It's amazing what a daily 30-40 mins of quality work on the trainer can do to maintain the fitness. With the bike sitting in the living room, I also get to play around and change up the positioning a bit. Drop the handlebar about 5-6 cm, bring the saddle forward about 1-2 cm, lower it about 1 cm, change to a longer stem (+ 1cm) with more rise...talk about increase in power, comfort, and enlisting different muscle groups. Me like this. I am gonna try out this new position during winter.
