I came across this the other day at Tune.de, in my quest for the perfect silver stem. Does anyone know of a distributor for these?

I don't know how much Tune has gotten into the U.S. market, I had to go to Germany (http://www.starbike.com/index.php?cat=home&lang=en) to get my Tune cranks.

Tune components are very expensive, a lot due to the dollar/Euro valuation, but they are well made and exquisitely finished.

Tune lists a U.S. distributor:
Jeremy Parfitt or Sarah Maxwell
Alchemy Bicycle Works
720 Rosita St.
Santa Fe NM. 87505
Phone: (505)699-4307

jeremy used a tune hub in a wheel he built for me. the thing is gorgeous. and the tune cranks that dave posted a photo of are equally gorgeous. tune stuff does look elegant.

You know Wayne, I think you're right. That is the perfect silver stem!

Nice.

Those cranks looks really nice--kinda like the old Cooks Brothers cranks.

Dave, any idea on the Q-factor?

Yeah, I love how the stem tapers down to the stem clamp, and the milling around the steerer clamp is beautiful. I just don't know if I can stomach the cost...

No, I don't pay any attention to Q factors as they are a non-issue for me. I haven't met a crankset that didn't fit me. For instance, I am more comfortable on steppers and ellipticals that have a slightly wide stance.

I pay attention, but for the opposite reason of most people. I find that I need something in the mid to high 160s to keep my right IT band from getting ANGRY.

Aha! I too, like a wider Q for the same reason. In some cases I've used a bottom bracket that has a longer spindle than specified to achieve what I need.

In the case of my Tune cranks, using a 113mm BB, it measures 163mm from the outer face of the pedal holes.

Jeremy Parafitt of Alchemy Bicycleworks in Santa Fe, NM is a US distributor of Tune products. You can look him up and call him. Maybe he could get you a stem.

Wayne,

Oval Concepts alos has a nice stem in silver, not as nice as the Tune, but a lot cheaper. The logo comes off easily, which makes it better looking.

Just pulled the trigger on the Oval Concepts stem and post in Silver. I'm still going to try the oven cleaner/sanding mehtod on a black anodized stem I already have just for kicks...

How did you get the logo off?

Thanks!

The logo wiped off very easily with alcohol. Hopefull they haven't changed the logo type.
