What can even be said about this? Dude is the sickest, most fearless, most creative rider that will ever live. It's like there is literally nothing he can't do. I almost can't even believe some of this is real. but I know it is:

I would like to see a video on making the videos. How many takes are needed for the moves, planning each move, etc. Clearly a lot of thought and planning is involved in making these videos. I find this latest one quite mesmerizing; great combination of filming and music.

I had the same question. But my take was that most of these moves must be first takes. Fails seem like they would end in severe injury!

Bit of a tedious gear question, but any idea why McAskill rides with a front disc and rear V-brake?

Seems an odd set-up, but I don't ride trials and clearly he knows what he's doing, but what's the rationale there?

i doubt those are actually V brakes, more than likely magura hydraulics, as is pretty common on trials bikes.

Wow, just watched it at home on my 27" iMac in 1080p HD. A little nicer than the grainy ordeal I witnessed at work earlier today over my iPhone! [Yes, I'm an Apple fanboy and have been since the Mac II!] Aside from the mystifying display of riding skills, this is some beautifully shot video and captivating scenery.

The second song used in the video is 'A Little Piece' by The Jezabels. I just bought their five song EP 'Dark Storm' from iTunes for 3.99. Really nice new music to go with a Stone Imperial Russian Stout tonight!

some amazing tricks and beautifully shot to be sure but his '09 vid for inspired cycles is still tops for me.

I stand corrected, but any reason why he's going with a disc on just the front?

I like the first one he did where he goes up the tree and flips backwards. Funny enough, it has been removed from YouTube or my searching skills need tuning.

only reason i'd guess is his preferred fork has no canti mounts.

i knew a trials guy back in the late 90's and even then they preferred magura hydraulics to V's, not sure what the common preference is nowadays and if they actually compare with hydraulic disc brakes, however i know several dudes that swear by the magura's (canti mounted hydraulic brakes).

i've never tried them.

Very cool. Trials is something I have an unbelieveable amount of respect for, given I can barely keep the two wheels between me and the road most days.

Not working for me. Maybe it is blocked in Mexico (where it is 85 and the beer is really, really cold  )

That guy goes places and does things on a bike that don't seem humanly possible! BTW, I'm with you climb...this latest video is great, but the first one is somehow more impressive.

Making the video: this one especially look how many moving frame dolly shots they use. Set up must have been over the top for these.

First takes: the opening shot at Edinburgh castle you can see how few pre-rides he did from the ruts. The bakery wall-ride you can see there was a lot of practice from the tire smudge.

V-brakes: I had the chance to ask Ryan Leech that exact question. When you brake, you are grabbing the rim and holding it in one place. It is stiffer when balancing on your rear wheel than disc. A pretty trials specific application but it makes sense.
