Here-ugly kit, IMO

With thousands of graphic designers out of work....they come up with this?

Agreed, fugly.
When going with stars and stripes, simpler is better.
Evel Knievel had it down.

As someone who has designed team kits I have to say that a good 80% of them suck. The one that you linked to is in a whole other realm of sucking.

Very 70s.

Or, it's the Euro version of Project Runway, and the task is to design a cycling outfit for Americans that signifies their culture, or the lack thereof. Go.

Good point. It does show the taste and restraint of a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am hood decal.

Looks more like barbed wire than stars and stripes.

Interestingly (as a side note), it seems that each rider/team/sponsor gets to design their own National Champion's kit for cyclocross.

Tim Johnson has had 2 different versions this year.

I have never seen a US champion kit that wasn't a disaster. :(

George's 2010 USA kit kicked ass.

I agree though, rarely does the USA kit look good. Evel Knievel pulled it off like only Evel can.

To me it's just a little much. If the tights were plain black it would be fine.

But it is the U.S. of A. kit ... it has to be too much and a sight that no one can actually peel their eyes from

Don't like it ... reminds me of the Confederate Flag :(

I know this is sacrilege for some but I just that the colors white, blue and red look crappy together.

I love threads about cycling fashion, a la "what not to wear."

The jersey's not bad, but the stripes on the tights are really bad. Looks like some sort of old-timey baseball uniform or Uncle Sam or something.

The classic stars and stripes jersey one gets as a National Champion is great. Why reinvent the wheel and make it worse?

BTW I agree that George Hincapie can pull off stuff that few others can match. Kinda fun.

What... too much cowbell?

I thought that was the point of these events. Cowbell, lots of cowbell. The print shows it. Where can I get the tie?

Could be much worse - could be Primal Wear <G>

can't say that I like this, but leaving Hincapie out of the equation the US National Champions kit 2010 did look pretty nice.

. . . at cross events, the spectators on the run-ups would have nothing to insult the riders about, since very few American cross fans blow on obnoxious horns or spit beer------yet.
