So, I bought my daughter her new bike and I'd like to put my set of Ultegra/Open Pro wheels on it to replace the cheaper wheels on it now... I currently have a 9 speed cassette on the OPs now and her bike is an 8 speed, what do I need to do to fit the 8 speed cassette on the OPs? spacers? (I know how to physically switch the cassettes)

Thanks!

Chris

I think you just swap the cassettes but check w/Sheldon Brown's site to be sure.

Just switch the cassettes.

you might need a tiny spacer to go on the back of the cassette.

i run 8 speed with ksyrium sl's with the spacer back there

No spacer is needed from a 9-spd hub to a 8-spd. You might notice that although you obviously have more cogs with the 9-spd, the 8-spd cogs and associated spacers are thicker!

Cheers!

If the hub is compatible with 9s, it's compatible with a shimano or sram 8s cogset..just put it on, adjust RD and go ride.

That's unique to Kry-sirium FTS-L freehub, that Mavic supplied 2mm spacer. Need that on all shimano or sram cogsets for that freehub.
