Fantastic time had... wish like hell it were me!

"not a single classic jersey missing, not a single classic fram maker missing either from what could be seen"

And there are Thomas Prescher Tourbillions out there with more dirt in the mechs than some of these bikes had at the ride start...

What happens if you turn up riding a modern?

Really cool looking bikes/clothes/food and seems like a great time as well. Only thing I notice is that it's all really old guys. Any under 60 allowed to ride?

You get a reprise of the pump in the spokes scene from "Breaking Away". :)

I think the verb for that is "cinzano'd"

Great read, Pez.
Is there anything similar in the western US?
Seems to me if something was organize, say, midway between SF and LA in a bike friendly area near vineyards, you'd get a few people to come ride. L'Eroica Pacifica...Hmmm.

In answer to my question above, Looks like something was planned in Boulder last year, but was cancelled.

Ditto. I remember going down to Whitman's Bike Shop to see the Cilo's... and Sandy Whitman

I saw a Cilo on The Bay not that long ago. Lots of fond memories from that time.

Great article!

I actually think I saw this film and remember that scene. The modern stays at home.

I was thinking of the Paso Robles area: Good roads, food and wine.

As a Pacifica resident for many years, I was just thinking a few places I would rather...

Yeah, and I was thinking of how close to me Paso Robles is
and of a couple of good dirt roads we have around here.

I think any cyclist could probably enjoy watching this film at least once a year.

It's entertaining even for non-riders.

Dave Thompson and I used to see even older bikes at the Wright Brothers shop when we were in dayton. That Orville was really a card.
