I am looking for some eyeglasses... went to the optician and was put off by the cheezy used-car style salesman.

I have a big head and my sunglasses hurt my head and behind my ears... but only after getting my heartrate up for about 15 minutes. I did not feel this at all in the store. So I am a little worried about spending big bux on glasses only to not wear them.

I have a very weak prescription and almost never wear my eyeglasses, except for movies and other presentations like conferences. This is the exact distance also for riding and running. I have those titanium frameless glasses. Very light, but fog and I am afraid of breaking them when out riding. The times I have worn them riding, I really enjoyed the improved visibility. More improvement than a ti-railed saddle!

Light conditions change alot here. Ideally I would have clear Rx lenses and then some transition lenses I could pop in as needed. I would probably get them with regular lenses, make sure they fit OK for a month or so, then spend the money on the Rx lenses.

Finally, I do not want full on sport glasses. I want something I can wear mountain biking, but also wear to a conference. So metal frames or thinner plastic frames.

Oh yeah... I do not want to spend a ton of money!!! I realize I might have to give up on that with these requests...

Any suggestions appreciated.

I absolutely love the previous incarnation of these which was known as the RB3. RB3 has been discontinued. The "Exception" is the replacement. A little more versatile as you can decide whether you want the flipup parts, or not. So you can put the RX in the frame by itself, snap the the dark lens into the frame by itself, or put the RX in the frame and put dark lenses in the flipup mechanism.

Definitely $$$$$.

Thanks. Those are too sporty. Rudy Project has Rx interchangeable glasses which is what I want, but all are too sporty and could not be worn off the bike (for me).

I would do something like the Keja if it had interchangeable lenses.

Try one of these places
Cheap eyeglasses (http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com/2006/11/from-3mew-eyeglasses-stores-are-for.html)

I have 3 pairs of sunglasses all for less than a hundred bucks.

Oh my goodness. Thank you! I am going to just get a pair of clear lens sporty ones and hope for the best at those prices.

You had a good experience with these?

you may want to check out zennioptical.com I've picked up a few pairs as spare glasses for the times I didn't want to worry about my good pair.

Another option to look at would bs Decot HyWyd (sp) and Randolph Ranger. These companies specialize in shooting and other sport glasses. There are a few different styles that have interchangeable lenses in many different colors, intensities, and options of polarized. I hope this helps.

Yes. I have purchased prescription sunglasses and clear glasses from zenni optical and 39dollar frames. All were inexpensive and accurate scrips. You have to make a few measurements like the distance between pupils, and make a few adjustments after you receive the glasses.

I have similar needs, it would seem, and ended up with the Adidas sport glasses, choosing the Adivista line. I think they are targeted towards golfers, but they work very well on the bike, are low key, can be gotten with transition lenses and Rx shaping. I really like the full range clarity. The transition lenses are versatile, and you don't loose visibility if it clouds up. All in all, pretty much what I wanted.
