I've had mine since 1980. Works like a charm, lots of memories!

An interesting artifact but there are lots of smaller tools that will do as good a job or better for a LOT less $$$$.

They're cool. And yes there are a gazillion other things that do the same job as that BIG thing, but there are also $1000 bikes that do the same thing as a $20k carbon uber-bike so drink to that rationale...

Agreed. I'm gonna ask for Campy corkscrew for Christmans. Just cuz it's cool!

This is one of the best made waiters style corkscrew I have:

Legnoart Corkscrew (http://www.legnoart.it/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/53fe2b48d47ec51be4597732327c5ace.jpg)

That said, the Screwpull ones work well and have a teflon coated worm....

I have had mine for 15 years, a great conversation piece and works very well. Go for it! Reds only. Enjoy JG

i've had my eye on that one for a bit, my local william senoma has them in store. i actually prefer the waiters style, classic and simple use of man's oldest tool, the lever.

Leslie got me one of the Legnoart corkscrews and a matching knife last year for Xmas. They are almost too pretty to use.

I like that they weigh about a pound, and that they look like they are nicely machined out of a block of metal. They feel like a "tool" when you hold it.

I bought mine at Tsillan Cellars (http://tsillancellars.com/) (Lake Chelan, WA) in summer 2009 for $30. I saw Williams Sonoma selling them for $75 last Xmas!! I should have picked up a couple.....

I, on the other hand, enjoy wine and Campy but have no desire to pay $200 for a corkscrew. Attractive looking, though!

I've got one, the "Big" version in bronze. They're stupid-expensive, but I received it as a gift - there's no way I would have spent that much money myself on a corkscrew.

But as others have already stated, it's well-built, does it's job well, is fun to use, and is also a great conversation piece. So, it's a cool thing to have (and actually was a good gift - something I enjoy that I wouldn't have purchased for myself).

I have no idea how the smaller/cheaper red/black ones are.

I won a bronze one many years ago. I've never used it, I'm not even sure where it is any more. I should probably find it and sell it...

Our bike club gave me one after my year as chair. Prior Chair got one too.

I've used it a few times and works quite well but mostly it sits on a display in the family room. We have another corkscrew mounted on a tripod in the dinning room that gets used most.

options.......life is good.
