Need to replace two chains, 9spd dura ace drivetrain on older csi and 10 spd campy on a c-dale. I'm baffled at the chain choices out there!! OEM, w-man, kmc, etc.

What I want is something quiet AND easily serviceable, and of course not too expensive. (maybe a quick link??)

Thanks

i'd do sram for the 9-speed drivetrain, it comes with a quick link and will be dirt cheap at any lbs.

veloce or centaur for the 10-sp with a wipperman link.

9s-sram or KMC

10s -KMC

Veloce with Wipperman link is way nice for 10s but is gettin' pricey.

Good 10 speed chain....I use these on a CDA and Seven Axiom using Campy 10 drive train.

Didn't look at the 9 chain, but that's a good price for any 10 speed chain. The only problem (sort of) is the break off pin. Works fine, but just isn't as handy as having a connector link. I don't see why Shimano is sticking with their chain pin design. I know it's costing them chain sales, and it's hard to believe that the sale of pins makes up for it. Maybe it is better from an engineering standpoint, but connector links seem to be reliable enough to get the job done.

I use quick links,I buy them by the pack.

They tried with the 7900 and then quietly went back to the pins.

KMC chains are nice. I run the X9SL and really like it.

Ribble has KMC X9L for $22.97 with orders over $76.50. Shipping is reasonable.

+1 on KMC with a wipperman connex joining link... the sram ones can be difficult to get off on the side of the road, but the wipperman connex joints simply slide off once you get the chain link angled vertically.

The KMC 'Missing Link' is also easy to remove by hand.

The wipperman connex is easier to open without any tools, but when do you need to open a quick link on the side of a road? If a chain breaks or if you have a sticky link, then maybe you repair the break or replace the link by inserting a new quick link. But you won't be opening the quick link that's already on your chain.

i have had great luck with 10 speed dura ace chains on both campy and shimano bikes, i hate that pin and i like to clean my chain off the bike so the wipperman link is a must. On 9 speed i really like SRAM chains, been using them since they were sachs chains. i think i may have had every model and i cant tell too big a difference but i still try to find a nicer one for cheap 990 or 980.

campy chains are really beautiful and work great but are just more than i want to pay and they dont seem to stretch slower so i dont buy them anymore.
