Good deal or bad idea

So ive got a developing intrest in toruing and a bike for rougher roads. A lady near my Camp is selling a Jamis Aurora used very little( Brother/owner over seas) and was advertising for $650 with helmet. Ive talked with her and I may be able to get for substanially less. Is this a decent deal for an entry level bike to see if I like touring and Brevts?

It is a 2007 Model and has a 52/42/30 in front and an 11/32 in back. It has 32C ties ,no racks or paniers bur does have the mounting holes for them..Should I look for newer year? or swap chainsets with someone...
