Campy chains do last longer IMO. A good value

I'd probably go with a Campy 9 spd chain, but I wouldn't pay more than $30 or so for it. Less sensitive to parts choice here than a 10 spd setup.

Dave is the resident chain expert, he may chime in...

Not many Campagnolo 8s chains left. Campagnolo hasn't made them for a while. Any decent 8s chain will work fine, one that is designed for index/click systems. Like sram, KMC, shimano. If ya got a Campagnolo 8s chain, no reason to not use it. Match the chain to the cogset, don't use a 9s chain.

yea, this. my lbs sells 8-sp sram chains dirt cheap, if i were putting together an 8-sp bike, i'd probably just use the sram, for convenience and cost.

a campy chain would probably last a little longer, but for <$20 for the sram chain, who cares

I've had good luck with SRAM PC-971 (silver/grey) and 991 (nickel) on everything from Athena 8s to older 5/6 friction shifting bikes.

I dunno, I use SRAM or KMC chains on my Campy bikes. Cheaper and easier to deal with.

I use all these brands on various bikes and they all work fine but the reusable master link surely make things easier.

Thanks guys. Ya, hard to find a cAMPY 8/9 spd chain for less than 45 or so bucks. Just gonna go with the SRAM

Thanks again for the input
