Whoa, how did that get there? Ok, so I am a bit distressed in that I have ridden for +25 yrs now and I am just noticing that I may have a leg length discrepancy. Don't ask me how I didn't notice this but now that I think my freakish body is out of skew, I am not sure what to do.
I am thinking about having a Retul fit session for starters... Any thoughts?
Also, I am finally going to a Chiropractor and having my body checked out.
Anybody got any good recommendations in the So. Denver, Parker, Castle Area?

Don't worry about it unless its actually causing you problems. Everyone has leg length and leg strength discrepancies. Length discrepancies are usually more pronounced in taller people. Leg strength discrepancies vary amongst individuals, but nearly everyone has a dominant leg that does more work than the other. Its just the way we are.

i agree with bikemoore. if its not causing any problems and you've been trouble free in this department for 25 years, i would just keep on doing what you're doing.
i've heard (but cant substantiate) that almost all of our symmetrical body parts are of different sizes, some just more pronounced, its just the way it is. different length arms, big toes, breasts, etc. - generally its no big deal unless its causing some stress problem.

I agree with the others. Unfortunately our bodies are not symmetric but a bike is. Throughout our lives our bodies have compensated for the asymmetries and sometimes trying to correct something can actually create problems that didn't exist before. Unless you are experiencing some pain or discomfort, you are probably best to leave well enough alone. You do not want to force your body into something that it has never done your whole life. If you are able to achieve your riding goals with no real issues, be happy and enjoy the ride.

I have never really had issues in my knees. I am starting to get tightness in my back but it may be due to lack of regular riding due to my job, age, and I seem to be loosing some flexibility in my hips.
Anybody have a Chiropractor in s denver, castle rock or Parker area?

I have a great massage therapist in the area, but not chiropractor. If you are serious about dealing with leg length discrepancy go see see the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. There are a couple other great fitters in Boulder. I think Todd Carver may have opened a Retul shop in downtown Denver.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and I think I did ok. It is the first time I have ever ridden without back pain. The guys at Wheatridge never figured it out.
The basics are that you have to understand where the discrepancy lies -- whether femur or shin. In my case it was split between the two. Shim, cleat adjustment and longer cranks and all is good. Not perfect mind you, but good.

Who is the massage therapist? That is another thing I need to look at as I have some scar tissue in between my shoulders that is triggering some headaches :crap:
Thanks!
