Check out this video. Its a LARGE download (50+ mb) so use the T1 at work...

I know that this is UNSAFE riding, but what bike handling skills! Check out the fixxie going downhill at the end... NUTS!

Enjoy!

Not time to download that. But what is it about fixed gears going downhill that scares people so much? There's a simple solution - pedal!!! That's what the discussion about pedal stroke is all about, you got pedal stroke you can relax and spin at 180 RPMs for a while...

Define "a while", please.

Its worth the download!

going downhill on a fixxie isn't a problem unless there are turns... and/or the hill is REALLY steep! Check out the video! Its worth it.

Don't try this at home.

I mean, sure, I've bent a traffic law now and then, maybe rolled a stop sign here and there. But these guys are insane.

In roller races I can hold 200 RPMs for 40 seconds, but that's driving the gear. In the Boston area I haven't found anything so long and steep that I couldn't handle it in the 42x20 fixed. I'm even dumb enought to think I can go after the guys on road bikes. At 180 RPMs with a hill to keep the speed I can hang for at least 5 minutes.

??? I got a NYC bike messenger melee at that link. There's a whole bunch more at http://www.digave.com/videos/ - Which one are you guys talking about?

..."Boston's Deadliest Messenger" rides past my office at 1:20...

...been floating around for a couple of years. It's amazing what people can/wll do when they've got a camera pointing at em.

I was dumbfounded when I saw what these guys were doing. Great skills but I think they are missing a few brain cells...

I had never seen this clip before - for those who downloaded it and saw a repeat...Oops! Sorry!

Crazy eh?

I think what struck me most was the trust these guys had in:
1) their skill on the bike in traffic
2) believing the drivers of the cars would make accomodations for their reckless actions.

Mostly #2.
