The first few rides in Seattle were, to no one's surprise, cloudy.

Today I had good sunny weather, so I brought the camera.

Thought you guys might enjoy.

Certainly very different from my usual rural new england ride pics.

You went through the Locks. What time? I rode through the locks about 4 PM today on my ride over to Alki beach and back.

I left downtown at about 4:10.... so, maybe sometime between 4:30-4:45? I don't wear a watch or speedometer when I ride, so it makes questions like this tough.

If you had been here on Saturday...

...you would have been right in the middle of Hempfest.

My son and I did the loop from the Eastside - Fremont - Ballard - Locks - waterfront a year ago and we got caught up in Hempfest. Took us an hour to walk our bikes through the crowd.

Who says I wasn't? ;) ;)

Actually wife and I tried to ride down there, but elected to ride on Elliot (I think) St. up until that funky bridge North of the grain depot... Still had to walk a little ways through the hempsters. I support their "cause", but too many underage kids there, atmo.

Are you living in Ballard? Those are my old haunts.

If you haven't yet, try the ride to Lake Washington, via Montlake and the Arboretum, across Madison and down through Madrona into Leschi. It's kind of the classic in-town ride, but it's really beautiful and has good roads. In the neighborhood of Leschi you can take an alternate route up into the hills, you'll ride above I-90, great views there, then reconnect with Lakeside Ave as you come down. To do that you turn right up Lake Washington Blvd as you come into the Leschi neighborhood.

I miss all those hills.

Dude! I think you rode right by my house! I am out of town through Sunday, then home for a few days. Let me know if you are up for a ride. I should have some time to goof off.

I was in Seattle last year. I wasn't able to take my bike, but the hotel I stayed at had bikes you could take out for free. Of course they weren't up to my elitist standards, but I still had a good time cruising around the city.
