I don't know of anyone in the US who can order one for you. He's still building bikes and gives fast turnaround to the keirin racing community that he also hangs around in socially, as well as to people who show up at his shop. You preferably need to know someone who knows him in Japan.

I assume that Andy Muzi means that Nagasawa is not accepting orders from non-Japanese customers.

It's one of those situations that you have to know somebody who is "in" with Nagasawa-san. It's definitely not impossible, it's just not probable.

He's taken orders recently and given amazing turnaround with American customers, but he isn't working through either EuroAsia Imports (as he used to), nor through various standalone importers like Yellow Jersey (Andrew Muzi). If you have an introduction, and speak some Japanese, you can call him up and chat with him and have a Nag on the way to you.

Do note that his son does an increasing amount of the work these days. Not to diss his son's work, but if you want a Sachs you want to be sure it's Richard's hands on the files. If you want a Nag, you want the father's hands. Right?

I vaguely remember a rumor that he is only building track bikes.

That is correct. No street fixies, no road bikes, no mixtes, or any of the other things he's done in the past.

Of course, having said that, for the right person he does seem to come up with a road frame or whatever. A few months ago he did a randonneur frame. That's a good way from a classic track frame.

Tomity.

He hasn't been around in a while but he certainly is "in" the scene and could possibly direct you to the proper avenues.

Currently it is very difficult to order a new frame at Nagasawa except for Keirin racers...

Exactly what Sean said. If you know someone who has been to his studio in Japan or has a relationship with him, then you can get a frame built. My friend in Austin just got his frame built in like 2-3 weeks. Amazing turn around. I have a cross bike that I'm thinking of selling for a Nagasawa. Some stiff steel for the track.

You may try to contact the master through his website.

If you visit him in person, it is very possible that he will built you a frame.

Just ring and say your name is Thor, give him a PO Box shipping address in Oslo, and email him your geometry numbers.

Amusingly, the bike being repaired in the cog mag article was mine. He turned it around in about 3 weeks (replaced top tube, head tube and head lugs, chainstays, track ends, brake bridge, re-raked and drilled the fork and reinforced the down tube and fork legs.)

When I saw a Nag lashed to a hitching post outside the brunch joint call " Juan in a Million", here in Austin. Treated as just another bike. I think the man would approve.

My buddy Bob just sent me these photos of his new Nagasawa. He had the pleasure of visiting Nagasawa's shop in Japan, breaking bread and coming home with this.

On my last trip to Japan I was visiting some of the old Suntour people, one of whom is a drinking buddy of Nagasawa. When I mentioned that there would be a demand for his road bikes if they were available again, Taki picked up the phone, called Nagasawa and then announced 'OK, he will make 60 a year'. Time to start sending in your orders.
