i am planning on running a 10 speed UT centaur CT aluminum crank this season. do the 110 BCD Specialties TA 36/46 rings work with campy ultra torque?

do i have any other choices?

TA makes Campagnolo specific rings in the range you want, and are in the 110/112 BCD.

Dunno, but PMP makes rings that will fit the Centaur compact crank.

With standard 110 BCD rings, the outer ring will be fine, but the inner ring is where you will have problems. The bolt hole that is behind the crank arm is just slightly longer. To get around this I used a dremel on the ring and elongated the hole a few mm so the bolt would go in. In my case, this was with a Ritchey inner ring and a Centaur 10 UT alloy crank.

Those Stronglights which say they are Campagnolo compatible look promising, but I have not tried those.

Maybe for CX looks and a quality look doesn't matter, but for a road bike, TA is the way to go. Very hi quality ring. Equal to original Campy. Others may look cheap.

Standard 110mm outer rings will not fit on Campag hidden arm cranks w/o modification since the bolt under the arm goes thru both rings . Ta makes lots of rings for the Campagnolo 110/112 BCD, innars, outers, all in between. Great rings, I sell a bunch of them.

Nope, standard 110 outer rings will work without modification. I have used several manufacturers. This is a pic of a standard salsa 110 with a centaur UT compact crank. It fit fine.

Since the bolt goes thru both rings under the crank arm, how can that be?

thanks for the info guys. it's informative, if slightly confusing :)

i'm off to order a set of specialties ta rings.

btw - isn't there a rumor about that says campy is going to release a cx specific crankset in 2011?

That is correct.

I'm still hoping to get a set this fall. I'm sending my LBS owner on a mission at Interbike.

does anyone know if the CX crankset by campy is going to be 10 or 11 speeds?

i would hope one of each! but 10 makes more sense.

Even if 11s, it'll work fine with a 10s setup but probably 10s. Anybody that uses 11s for cross is nutz.
