Here's the setup:

7700 Dura Ace Crank
7800 Shifters, chain and cassette
FSA Pro Road S10 Chaiinrings

Thinking about running a FSA Pro Road 42 tooth chainring.
From What I can tell it's only available in the 9 speed/campy 10 version.
Any reason why it wouldn't work?

Technically the spacing may be wrong but does anyone have practical experience with this setup?

....it's not really the same situation at all, and it doesn't address the technical end of this question..... but I'm currently riding an Ultegra 9-speed triple: 52-42-30, and I really like the 42 tooth ring as opposed to the 39 that now comes with the triples. I like having a lot of closely spaced gears at the top end, and I find that I probably spend 60% of my time in the 42.
That said, if you are thinking of going with 52/3-42 only, you'd better be riding where it's flat, have some big cogs in the back, or be packing some strong legs.

Good luck on the technical question.

San Francisco isn't exactly flat but having 27 on the back helps.
I'lll give the FSA S9 chainring a shot and report the findings.
