I've used my old nucleon tubulars (later renamed neutron) for cross. So, I'd say, according to the UCI, the wheels used to allow for a 34c tire but now you can only go up to 33.

For clinchers . . . I dunno, but I'd think you're more likely limited by the frame and brake setup than by the rims.

thats what I thought. I wasn't sure if there was a limit on how wide you can go before you go to a wider rim.

Not sure how wide the Neutron rims are but I use a 30mm Michelin Mud on my Open Pros with no problems. They run wide, mine measure more like 34-35mm.
