Bottom line - can this be make reasonably strong with any rim/spoke lacing? Found one used. I am in the 160's and will be 150's soon so I am not huge. Also, 90% will be on the trainer.

DT Competitions, Velovicy Deep V would be pretty good for you. Lace each side 2X.

Thanks! I am getting a really good deal on one. I would not have bought a 20 hole if it were not.
My two choices are a strong/heavy(ish) rim as you mention or maybe a DT RR 585 OR get a light carbon wheel at 10X the cost.
I may contact one of the builders that from this site and have them build up a strong wheel with this. That is likely the way to go.

After evaluation of the limitations of the low spoke count I passed on it. Half price is a good deal but not if the wheel is not usable.
