i've got a minoura trainer i got on sale with a remote
and i see some hi priced indoor trainers but i wonder if there is a discernible difference between the cheapo ones and the expensive ones?
i'm talking about simple resistance trainers of course, not the fancy electronic monitoring kind.

there is a huge difference in feel between magnetic resistance trainers and fluid resistance trainers.

fluid trainers vary resistance more smoothly and give you a more "road" feel. the resistance is varied by changing gears on the bike.

the other big difference is the build quality, including the sturdiness and bearings of the unit.

dont buy a cheap trainer if you're going to use it a lot, its not worth it.

stick to kurt kenitics, or cyclops.

computrainer is pricey but most realistic one I've ever used. Overlay ergvideo and it is awesome.
