SRAM force trim

just installed and tried SRAM force out this past weekend. and i'm having simliar issues with the front trim.

the trim's supposed to be on the small ring, but i have no detents in the shifter going from small to big rings. but i do have two clicks shifting back down. if i stop at the first i think it's supposed to trim a bit but doesn't move. if i push past and go to the second click, it down shifts.

limits seem good with 1-2mm clearance on either side with no touching.
what's wrong here?

I believe when SRAm redesigned Force they moved the trim from inner to outer, similar to Red.

As to why yours isn't working, all I can think of is cable tension.

inside ring cable tension should be less than loose! your trim is there, there's just too much tension on outside ring so it doesn't move.

so shift to the smaller ring and give a bit more slack?
