My wife and a few of her friends have started riding lately. I'm their go to person for bike related questions.

I know that guys use variety of chamois creams. And that subject came up, but I was at a loss for what I should recommend to them (if anything).

So, for the ladies (or guys in the know), do you use a chamois cream? and if so, what brand?

I'm not a lady, or a guy in the know, but I think a catalog I received a while back had a chamois cream that was advertised as being specifically designed for women. I'll see if I can track it down.

Is there a difference, or do they just package it differently so they can sell it for more to them?

Lotsa women participate in these events--they must have some recommendations.

My favorite chamois cream recommendation was from a manic female racer wannabe who told me seriously she rubbed Anusol, the topical anaethesia for hemorroids, all over her chamois. Made me wonder of the side effects of this product usage.

My advice is to remind the ladies their seat is not a chair but a perch which they should aim to "float" on. That, and buy a few pair of shorts that cost too much. They won't regret great shorts. I find chamois creme mostly helps with chafing, it doesn't do much to ease discomfort other than that.

They just did a segment on local news about womens hygeine vs mans. Same manufactures , same ingredients same store,,one designated ladies the other mans. Every time the womens product was a buck or two more.

For a soft comfy ride, have the ladies check out Surfas Performance RX saddle

AFAIK the usual brands work just fine.
The suggestions for shorts, saddle and position are all very good. Chamois cream can't cover up a poor fit or lame shorts.

For both men and women's bottoms. Works like a charm.

I just use plain ol Chamois Butt'r . Haven't tried the Dznuts bliss - know a couple of ladies who use it, but i haven't really inquired as to whether it's any different from the rest.

My boyfriend uses the euro style chamois butt'r and ladies definitely gotta be a lil careful using that to make sure you don't apply it to the wrong areas.. The menthol can be a little much for a lady.

Assos creme on the chamois itself, and DZ Nuts on me. That combo has worked great in all types of weather.

I hope each of them finds the right saddle; that is key.
