This is a follow-on to the other thread about Fav All-time movies. Name some of your fav movies that are not well-known.

Here's two:

Sweet Land - about a German mail-order bride coming to a middle America (Minnesota I think)just after WWII, where she speaks no English and encounters prejudice from the war. More like a BBC production but really well acted. Also, a beautiful music score.

World's Fastest Indian - about a Kiwi, Bert Munro played by Anthony Hopkins, who dreams of racing his home-made Indian motorcycle on the Utah Salt Flats. Funny and charming, and a true story.

The Gods Must be Crazy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gods_Must_Be_Crazy .

AND, it's definitely better known, but Raising Arizona is one of my all time favorites. The yodeling, Holly Hunter, and the going to the store for diapers scene really did it for me.

I was going to list A Boy and His Dog... gut thought it was a bit too mainstream... after all Don Johnson is in it

Funny as hell too!

Another vote for Repo Man - great flick.

I don't watch that many movies but have seen a lot of the movies listed here and they were all good - On any Sunday, World's Fastest Indian (went to a car show in La Jolla and the bike was on display...it was hard to believe that it was originally built in the 20's), The Gods Must Be Crazy, Tin Men, Putney Swope. Also liked Don't Look Back and The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.
