Really? I thought horse racing was right up there with cycling and dentistry in terms of general well to do-ness. :rolleyes:

Anyone hit it big? I lost pretty much all morning but hit the exacta and left a winner. 305 bucks on a 4 dollar ticket ain't bad!

Did you attend? I saw it in 1996 (Grindstone). It was an interesting spectacle, much more for the people watching than the races themselves.

Saw George Foreman and entourage as I recall.

And the women in their hats was a kick.

I did. It was a rainy affair but the sun came out for a few min--and those few min happened to be right around the time My Old Kentucky Home was sung. Weather gods smiled on Churchill for just enough time to get the race in!

Definitely some ridiculous outfits, but it was a bit subdued with all the rain. Still a fantastic day!

I miss living in Louisville...just a great city.

We watch the race every year...my father was from Louisville. We were at my mother's house yesterday along with a lot of other relatives. We all picked horses and threw a dollar each into the hat. Daughter won. I liked it all. The sun came out just before the race. My old Kentucky home and ladies in hats were beautiful. No incidents. Best horse of the day won. Owner bet $100,000 on his own horse and won, despite long odds. It was pretty cool.

A couple of my co-workers were there and had a great time. I second the claim that Louisville is a great town.

I bet on this pony on a tip from Dave Thompson, but I probably should have asked for a photo.....
