How many of you folks either ride a flat bar or Alt (On One Mary or Mustache etc. etc.) bar road/commuter/all rounder bike?

Are they flat bars on a true road frame? Flat/Alt bars on a CX platform, or maybe a MTB conversion project?

Show me what you've got!

Thanks.

Mark (who's contemplating doing something with his Carver 96er)

I'm always playing around with bar/frame configurations, here are a couple of
my attempts.
The set up on the Merlin was one of my favorites for zipping around the city. I used a straight bar with Paul thumbies/ 9 speed bar cons and shimano mtn levers.

I used to use these old bar ends with flat bars on an old converted mtb.

My Aegis SS with chopped Bull Horns. I have been riding it for a few years.

Just finished converting this Airborne to a Flat bar road bike. My 13 y/o will ride it more than me but I have about 10-20 miles on it so far. I spend quit a bit of time doing urban riding on MTB's with slick/semi slicks. What I found on the short ride that I have done on this conversion is that I tend to treat it like a Fat Tire Bike. I'm a little concerned that I may forget and hit some holes or jump some curbs and regret it. We will see. I have some wider riser bars I might try on it at some point.

This is not really any kind of conversion but it is my favorite bike and my goto bike when I want to rekindle my joy of riding. Wide flat bars and fat tires instill a confidence I can't get on a road bike.

Your AirBorne set up is much like my Merlin, great little "City Slickers" for cafe hopping and fast jaunts.

I like moustache bars on my Riv Allrounder. I also liked this bike with Nitto Noodle drop bars but I wanted something different on one bike. IMHO the M-bars are better than flat bars because I have several hand positions including one that's just like a flat bar. I also can use regular road bike levers and bar end shifters.

I'm a big fan of the Titec H- Bar

http://www.profile-design.com/titec/products/handlebars/other--handlebars-/h-bar.html

Have one of these on my Pugsley and wish I'd have built my travel bike (Surly Taveler's Check) with it.

Similar hand angle to the Mary bar (ride this on my SS), but a little wider. The front extensions are oh-so-cool for mounting brakes, shifters, bells, lights, etc., and make swapping components easy.
