I need to rebuild my 10sp Record shifters again. I have bought the needed parts from my local LBS and Branford bike in the past but it takes forevere to get the parts from my LBS and I think Branford is a little pricey. Any suggestions?

Peter Chisholm at Vecchios: www.vecchios.com
Peter is a Campy guru (he has a Campy logo tattooed on his leg!) and will only sell you what you need at a reasonable price. Give him a call. Good Luck!
Btw, scroll down here for a couple of pics of his tat:

I went to campagnolo.com and found the area distributor for campagnolo parts. The area distributor will have a large selection of parts and will be able to get most parts in a day or two. Also the distributor I found was connected to a local shop so ordering was very easy.

Just how often do those things need to be rebuilt, anyway?

I think it's every 10,000 miles which would be about a 6 months riding for a really dedicated cyclist but for mere mortals like myself--much more than 6 months.

I have nearly 20K miles on one set with no soft springs. My other bike only has 9K miles on it. Hope I'm the exception.

Really? I don't ride alot of miles, but my 99 Record 9 ergos easily lasted about 20K miles before the g-spring became "soft." I had it rebuilt and about 5K miles later, the spring carrier broke. My LBS sold me a spring carrier wtith two g-springs and the plastic (carbon:) washer installed for about $20, bargain! I rebuilt it myself in about a hour or so. Works fine.
I know others who easily have more than 30K miles on their ergos and it still running strong. What's that saying, YMMV...Good Luck!

I'm not sure what it's saying but I had to rebuild some chorus shifters with no more than 10,000 miles on them. I also had another set of shifters that ran into the same problems. I don't believe there's a magic number for everyone but my experience tells me things wear out maybe just not at the rate your's do.
The new ultrashift mechanism has no g-springs to wear out and is expected to go far longer with no repairs. Only time will tell if that's true. If anything does wear out, you buy a $40 repair kit and replace everything in the back, except the thumb button return spring.
