What type of tape do folks recommend to stop potential cable rub on the headtube?

Electrical works, but the car-bra material from 3M looks better and is more durable.

Go to your home centre and get the little adhesive velcro dots. They come in a few colors and the fuzzy part of the velcro is perfect for this application. I have a black frame so it's easy to get them to match.

Been wrapping my cables with a thin turn ofself fusing silicone tape. Seems to work really well so far.

I went to the hardware store and purchased some inexpensive clear plastic tubing that is it soft & flexiable. I cut about a 2" length, then slit it down one side so I can wrap it around the cable housing without removing, when it gets dirty I replace it.

This stuff from Colorado Cyclist:

You get enough to last a lifetime and it works great. And it will not peel off paint or decals.

I use lizard skin on my BMC ... it is essentially clear except for a faded lizard.

I use glueless patches. They last forever.

I just cut small patches from a roll of Scotch packing tape.

if you run the cables to the opposite side and cross the cables under the downtube...you won't get cable rub at all.

I prefer to use 3-5 O-rings on the cable housing itself. Same concept as the Jag-wire covers, but cleaner looking, imho.
