Just curious what is the one piece of equipment you would never part with? Mine is a 1980's Girardi Regal Saddle with black perforated leather too many miles to even think.

My Nashbar long sleeve, no logo, blue jersey. Cotton soft, wicks well, can pull up the sleeves as the morning gets warmer. Has some elbow holes from a crash done a couple years ago and won't let the missus do a repair. Bad mojo is my thinking.

Need to order another one for Sunday's ride.

There is an easy way to deal with that "situation". What's your address?

The Hors Categorie. Unless Serotta makes 'em again... then I would just get a custom HC.

Silca floor pump. Have had it for years and it keeps on trucking. Other stuff...martin guitar...it replaced another that disappeared (was stolen). Never will let it go.

Haven't bought a new frame since I got it and don't plan on it...

About 1/2 my riding and standard Roadie stuff. For that I have yet to find the Holy Grail. A B-17 is pretty close, but I do fine on bikes without them.

The other 1/2 of my riding is more "Urban". For that, my fatties are a must. Everything upstream of those are negotiable.

Not sure that there is a single piece of gear for me, since I'm still saving for a bike I really want...

I got a RoadID from my wife for christmas this year... I think that is something that i'll probably have for a LONG LONG time, and will wear religously.

My '94 Assos knee warmers which I should have been wearing that frosty morning, riding up Sierra Rd. in San Jose, where both knees got blown. Used them a few times in Feb., for the 3:00 am ride when the temp dropped below 70. Brrr in Honolulu.

There's probably no piece of gear I couldn't part with.

I'll probably always own a wool jersey of some kind, and I doubt I'll ever abandon steel bikes.

Sweet ride. Those older SLs look so much better with the European bumpers.

Yeh, I'll agree 100% with that, but that's more about how little most people know about riding than it is about the value of crit bars. I've set up four of my riders with my own crit bars after teaching them how to sprint. That bruise on both wrists that you get when you learn how to sprint on flat top bars is a damn good reason for crit bars. Three of those riders are cat 1's, the other is still a cat 3, but not for long...

base layer t shirts. unless too warm, wear one under lycra a lot of the time. comfy, durable. it tends to not stink and keeps the lycra less schmelly too.

Of all my bike parts, the one thing I would have to have the same is the saddle. Maybe this isn't really isn't the only thing I could live without because if I sold one of my bikes with the saddle, I would just have to buy another same model saddle. It's a Fizik Aliante and I could not ride without it. All 4 of my bikes sport the same saddle now and I'm planning on keeping it that way. I actually have an extra saddle now as I just sold one of my Carbon bikes that I wasn't riding so I am probably going to have to buy a bike to put it on. Oh well.....

Agreed-- they also drive much nicer when fitted with the 4 speed manual tranny too-- That little straight six dual overhead cam motor sounds sweet when I take it above 4500RPM in 2nd or 3rd gear.
