so i wrote this song, to the tune of American Pie. Obviously, it is lame, and if in any way offensive, I will remove it.
A long, long time ago…
I can still remember
How that forum used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance,
I could start a thread about le tour d’france,
And maybe it’d go on for a while.
But spring showers made me shiver,
Every log-on made me quiver,
Bad news every morning,
How many more warnings?
I can’t remember if I cried,
When I looked at that thread in the classifieds,
But something touched me deep inside,
The day, the forum died.
Bye, bye, Serotta forum, bye,
Rode my ‘rotta, to the wata’
But the water was dry,
and them good old boys were drinkin ‘red’ and were high,
singin’ “this’ll be the day that it dies.”
“this’ll be the day that it dies.”
Did you write of component love,
Do you have faith in campy above,
If the ‘talians tell you so?
Do you believe in Shi – man – O,
Can Di2 save your mortal soul,
And can you teach me how to shift real slow?
Well I know that you’re in love with him,
‘cause Cancellara’s gonna win,
You want red, white and blue?
Sorry friend, George is gonna lose.
I was a bored off season cyclist,
Typing’s drier than riding in the mist,
All I could do was make a fist,
The day the forum died…
Bye, bye, Miss serotta forum, bye,
Rode my ‘rotta, to the wata’
But the water was dry,
and them good old boys were drinkin ‘red’ and were high,
singin’ “this’ll be the day that it dies.”
“this’ll be the day that it dies.”
For many years, we’ve been on our own,
Now political debate will get you thrown,
But that’s not how it used to be.
When that Mass thread went to 500 posts,
Most of them complaints, jabs and boasts,
I would have preferred cookin’ toast.
And while William was lookin’ down,
A squirrel wore a tiny crown.
The season hadn’t started,
A few have since departed,
And while we looked at custom bike pics,
The Serotta website was finally fixed,
But the forum was sadly nixed,
The day the forum died.
Bye, bye, Serotta forum, bye,

and them good old boys were drinkin ‘red’ and were high,

Anyway, Glad to see the Forum back, and excellent job on the site revamp!!
