I subscribed to the Bonktown,, Tramdock, Whiskeymilitia notices. I don't mind the banner at the bottom of the page, but the little pop-ups are driving me nuts. How can I cancel the pop-up portion, I'm OK with the banner.
TIA

I think if you bring down the "setup" menu of the browser you are using there is a option for that....

What BROWSER are you using?

Every browser has a setting to turn off popups
Windows explorer = tools/popup blocker
FireFox = tools/options/content

BUT....
This only works on real pop ups, not imitation popups that are generated
by some advertising.

and

Some sites require popups to be on to navigate the site. In this case
you will see a warning like "we need popups on to do this..." there will be a
button on the top line of the browser saying something like "Do you want to allow pop ups from
this site, clic yes.

also

Some sites torture you with popups until you "Register" or pay money. It is their
way of commerce. These are annoying, but because they are not real popups,
the only way to get rid of them is to pay.

Bottom line:
Turn off pop ups globally and see if it helps, allow pop ups on an individual
basis. And always look for that warning that pop ups need to be on if the sie you
are using doesn't seem to work right.

Hope this helps

VF, I tried that. The blocker doesn't show any exceptions IOW it appears to be universal yetI still get those small pop-ups at the bottom of the screen.

You are probably dealing with phony popups, not controlled by Mozilla.
Sort of like when you download a free game. You need to get the
paid version to get rid of the pop ups.

I don't know if there is a workaround

This is from Mozilla:

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Pop-up+blocker?bl=n&s=block%20popups&as=q#Pop_up_Blocker_span_style_text_align_left_flo at_none_clear_none_class_win_Options_span_span_sty le_text_align_left_float_none_clear_none_class_noW in_Preferences_span_

Good luck

For Firefox, you could try the free add-on Adblock Plus. It filters some popups without having to disable them completely.

Well I guess they are not REAL pop-ups. I've done what the tutorial says to do.
Thanks,

I've been using the free pop up stopper from these guys for years.

It was tooooo simple. I right clicked the banner at the bottom and lo and behold, there was a "disable pop-up" button. I'm much happier now. Thanks all,
