After a 9 year hiatus, wife and I added child number 4. Wife is wanting to ride more this summer but since the last child we picked up a Specialized Roubaix, alum main triangle and carbon seat stays. Wondering if anyone out there is using a Burley trailer clamped to the plastic? :D

I ride a 2009 Giant TCR Advanced ISP which is full carbon, and I've been clamping the Chariot trailer to it. Hopefully I'm not doing any damage to the carbon dropouts!

Do NOT clamp a trailer to anything carbon, it will crack. The Burley clamp point loads the carbon essentially driving a wedge into the stays. Voice of experience here. Burley makes an "Alternative Hitch" that they market for use with full suspension frames. That is what you need. Basically it attaches the trailer to the rear skewer. Seems sketchy, but I have not had any problems on road or mountain bikes.
