I can tell you by the rear brake bridge that that bike has no Colnago lineage. I'm not sure if Serotta ever made frames without the 'S' engravings on the brake bridge, thought the 'Murray' engravings on the seat stay caps would make it a likely Serotta-built item.

I wonder why "no local pick-up". Can doing all the work promised to pack and ship it be so much fun for the seller?

Head ons are suspicious.

Loved, "if you can't tell it's a Serotta you shouldn't be bidding."

People are funny.

Love the already chipped off baby-blue paint at the rear dropouts, and the paint contamination from a "newspaper on garage floor" rattlecan job. I... wouldn't bid on this. But hey... Paypal = Buyer Protection.

Identity crisis with this one....

I also dig the Sharpie colorfill in the "Murray" at the top of the seat stays. That's classy.

Exactly what bike from 1984 had no DT shifter lugs AND STI cable guides?

It's pretty, but what is it?

. . . said in the listing (I think) that he had put the Colnago (Oops! Ezcuse me . . . 'Nago!) badge on it to cover up the Murray "M" on the headtube that looked bad.

If you can't tell it's a Serotta, you shouldn't be trying to sell it!

If this is not yet another brick in the wall that furthers the argument to never buy anything off ebay I don't know what is. Look at the seller's rating!!! Maybe the very skilled and astute know how to navigate the waters of ebay but, like swimming with sharks, I will leave that up to the experts!

PS - the brownish gold triangles on the lugs look like they were painted with one of those little Testor bottles of paint that we used to paint plastic models with.

Is posting twice back-to-back like double dipping a corn chip? If so, sorry.

See link below. Who to believe, who to believe....

Did not have time for deep diving forensic work but noted the DT shifter "nubs" on the one below and the brake cable guides on the top of the top tube vs. I think the other was on the side. Clearly two different frames.

Lugs match, brake bridge matches, fork crown matches. Likely its real and entirely possible the DT shift bosses, the BB cable guides and the TT cable guides were removed and the headons and split guides were added during a refinish.

Not buying it. As the Dire Straits song goes, "Two men say they're Jesus. One of them must be wrong!"

Note the M engraved on the shoulder of the fork of the blue bike. Non-existent on the white bike. I was able to find a long lost cousin though...
