google maps directions

anyone noticed that google maps now has a option for "by bicycle"? its beta, but it looks like there is hope in the world after all.

Interesting, ran my work commute, keeps me on the main road thru the busiest part of the ride and changes course at the clearest. Good news that it's on there though. :beer:

I disagreed with the sample routes I plotted, yet I'm sure things will improve over time.

I believe it shows roads with bike lanes if they exist.

It also includes some rails to trails...still a work in process but it is cool that they are working in that direction.

one of the cool things is it shows you a picture of the actual intersection/turn in case it's one of those had to tell ones... I also heard it trys to keep you off any major hills as well, which is why it may differ from what we would normally ride...
