be used as a bottle opener?
A bunch of guys I ride with have them, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever used that little metal-lined hole on the back to "crack a cold one"? I'm not sure if it would be strong enough, but I have my hopes.

tried.
It worked exactly one time.
Which is all that mattered for me.

I don't know about a bottle opener, but works great as a nut cracker for me.

New a couple different guys that could open with there teeth.
Thank you, but no thank you.
Always was waiting for them to crack a tooth.
Surprisingly it never happened

Just carry a small, handy, and virtually weightless aluminum bottle opener.
Better yet, keep a bottle opener at the bicycle shop for post-ride beverages and save your saddles.
Leave any leftover beers for the mechanics who take care of your bikes.

I've been able to use my wedding band to open most bottles. I'm glad it's been useful for something over the years...

Yet another reason to have a Surly single speed...
Opening beer bottles without the appropriate tools at hand is also an excellent reason to have a Marine around.

Campagnolo fork dropouts make great bottle openers. Drill a tiny hole in the top (so you can add it to your key fob) and file a tiny notch in the bottom of the dropout....voila....
