I need some bibs in the 150+- range. I have had PI and Specialized just wondering what you guys like?

You can get Assos Uno bib shorts on ebay for about 179 I think. I've had a pair for just under a year and love them.

I like giordana the best and they are well within that range.
Performance are the best value for the $$. You could get 2 pair and still get change back.

I really like the Cannondale Le Carbon

I have some Endura FS260 and MT500's that are nice as well. I have some Gore bib that I really like but they have elastic grippers and some threads coming loose after only a few uses.

Spesh RBX. $175 but available for much less if you're willing to buy from British e-tailers. Espesh since the GBP is just a whisker over $1.50 these days.

Gore Bike Wear Ozon, $149.99 and worth every penny to me. I have $100 pairs of Craft and Mavic bibs. The Craft run tight and the Mavic are good. All tree are 'large', but the Ozon fit me best and have the best pad. If I'm going 100 miles, I pick the Ozon every time. For anything under 75 miles Craft and Mavic will also work.

I've settled on Giordana also. The FormaReds are the best built and fitting short I've seen. But are pricey unless found on sale or closeout. The Silverline or fine too.
As far as Performace, I have a freind who was attracted by price and rightly so being a new rider. I got him to buy some Silverline on close out and he was like, "WOW These are actually cut right and feel so much better."

For longish rides my go-to shorts are PI with 3-D Race chamois, which are kind of mid-range in price. I actually find them better (for me) than the more expensive PI shorts with different chamois and a stiffer foam.

I'm generally a pretty cheap guy, and feel that if I can get something for say $65 that is 95% or the performance of the the $200 item I go for the less expensive one every time. If I'm going to spend more than say $100 on shorts / bibs, in addition to being way way more comfortable than what I use now (which seems to me to unlikely, given how happy I am with what I currently use) they also better help move my legs.

It all comes down to how much more benefit you get for all the extra dollars, and with expensive shorts I just don't seem to get it. Having said that, I have not yet tried Assos.

I have these too and love them. I also have Assos Y2Y Bib or whatever and they are very nice. Another good one for me is the tri bibs I bought after a recommendation here a few years back. See here....

These are DeSoto 400 mile bibs. Price is $144.00. 400 mile is what they figure you can ride in them comfortably, so the name. I will tell you that the leg section is similar to a compression tight and really feels great against the thighs. The pad is good, not like a diaper but rather slim and comfortable.

Check them out, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Further to my other post, they actually have the 2009 model for only $86. A super deal. I don't know if they changed much for 2010 so it's a super discount. I'm sure colors and sizes are limited and when sold out will be gone for good.

Jump on these now. You can get 2 pair for just $22 over your budget before shipping. Sorry to get you guys excited, they only have size S left in the bib.

Generally a very big fan of the Santini gel insert. They can be a good deal cheaper than $150 as well. I have three pairs now, so apart from the team GSG bibs, they're all I wear.

Descente are my favorites and I also like the Hammer Nutrition Voler shorts, especially at the historical prices. Descente for any ride, especially the all day rides. Voler for the 30-mile training rides.

I have a pair of Assos that I purchased from a forum member at a good price that I am anxious to try.

Another good place for cycling apparel is sierratradingpost.com Right now they have over 250 related items, men's, women's, etc. Some nice Campy jerseys, Ex Ondo, an Assos jersey and some decent bibs. Sizes and colors are limited, however, you may find something you like.

Cheap as I am, I'd buy a handful at full $144 retail if using them will cause my body to look like thatt guy's.

I absolutely love my Hincapie bibs. They are so much better (in every way) than my Castelli bibs (which are also nice)

A friend bought me a full Hincapie kit (full zip jersey and bibs) for $60 total at Hincapie's last warehouse blowout.

I got some of the higher end Segoi's last year. Nice shammy and spandex seems to hold up better than most over the miles. They seem to keep me "tucked in" better than others I've used.

I have Assos, Capo, and Louis Garneau. I like them all, but LG is the best, at least in my opinion. I can ride hard for hours and feel totally comfortable in LG. Afterwards, even though my legs are like jello, my butt feels no different than when I began the ride.

I trust nobody will follow this lead, but I completely eradicated saddle sores by switching to thin wool dress pants and polypro briefs, no pad. Once I stopped the intensity of racing, I found my body could handle a lot more riding, and riding chamois (thing wet sponge attached to your under regions) was wreaking havoc, but highly breathable fabric that hangs loose every time I stand off the saddle works like a charm.

Like I said, I don't expect followers; it is probably just a retired racer thing. I've heard from a friend who got to know Andy Hampsten that he frequently does the same thing. Just never take a pro license and maybe you'll be safe from this behavior.
