After 58,000 miles and just over 7 years I had to replace my 7703 Dura Ace bottom bracket. :crap:
Can you believe it?
Since it was sealed, I never even considered servicing it. They just don't....

great service from this BB. I thought that DA had cups and loose balls and Ultegra and lower were "sealed" bearings. Some of my local shops would put Ultegra BBs in otherwise all DA gruppos because the DA had to be serviced to get the full longevity while the Ultegras were a "set it and forget it" component.

I think the least that Shimano should do is send you a complete Di2 group :D

Don't you have to go over 2 million miles to get that sort of award?

The 7703 is a triple and it is my understanding that the Dura Ace BB is essentially the Ultegra sealed BB with no cups and loose balls.

Correct. shimano never made a 118mm(triple) BB with the DA type loose 1/8 inch and roller bearings.

That's excellent mileage for an Octalink bottom-bracket, right?

Just another example of why to use Campy - its serviceable! That damn Shimano stuff never needs service - what's the fun in that?

+1 Use it, wear it out, and toss it. Assuming you can even wear one out.

Ultegra bottom brackets were also very inexpensive considering the many years I'd get from one. The only time I've purchased one is to convert a bike from double to triple. And I kept the old one because it was still in great shape.

Phill Woods are just as good as they used to be. Talk about a design ahead of its time.
