Last week it was on at $3,500.

He says he's upgraded the components three times, but the bike has only done 450 miles - I think not.

Is he that stupid or does he think everyone else is?

I like the fact that Ben "knows who he is" from one phone call about paint "many years ago." Hey, but let's for a minute give him credit that perhaps Ben does remember that cold, wet, windy, fateful day in October 1999 when he had just come off the shop floor to answer an important phone call about the intricacies of painting Ti frames. Why does that make the bike more authentic or of better quality?

And now to be nice, it does look like he has some decent, but older, components on the bike to partially justify an elevated price. Question though... can that bike weigh 16lbs as described?

***:

"Gearing is professional for racing. (11-12) rear cluster. 56-33 from chain rings,"

Am I missing something, a rear cluster (11-12). That must be an 11, 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, etc all the way to that 12. AND a 56-33 chainring combo????

I hate to make fun of people, BUT:

I have precisely invested much time/money/craftsmanship and effort in custom building this bike to a very accurate dimension of speed.

Just for that... I'm gonna have to bid on this thing!

Ha!

all these hack ads have the same writing style and malappropriation of language which is a hoot to read

bonus points for using both icon and missile in the same sentence - can anyone else reading this do that?

30 miles per year, Hmmm, must have really dropped the hammer on those

The man has pride and expenses, have you ever purchased a gallon of gas in Hawaii or tried to sell real estate in Florida,

I have a bridge for sale along with several cars currently being leased to Cab drivers in Havana Cuba

I truely believe the price is based on a per word charge in the ebay ad, never see such a detail description of a "vintage bike"

Happy ebaying

The Specialized Shiv TT bike was an iconic machine, propelling riders to missile-like speeds, only to later be banned by the UCI.

Actually I Have bought gas in Hawaii, but milk Is actually worse there, also I was going to buy that bike he had it listed on local bicycle trader, but sounded to fishy when i was looking at it he was asking 1500. its either a scam or Stolen so be careful. also it was listed in NC and I was going to line it up for someone to look at it and then he said he was in cali, but look at ebay and its listed in FL. that man sure moves pretty fast. :argue:

If you google his FL phone number, it gives several hits where he is requesting work as a live-in house-sitter for coastal properties. Interesting...

I exchanged a few emails with him back in January.
He disappeared when I asked for the serial number.

I definitely see the fun in poking at the ad, but buyer beware for sure...

On a little more serious note...

I thought all the Coors Light bikes were Yellow and Purple?

There's not a lot of collectability in one stripped of its heritage/paint or that was never used by the team in a race.

my memory is a little cloudy about this, but were the Coors Light bikes the Colorado line in steel? I think Ben didn't want to build a ti bike until he could figure out how to make it stiff enough for his standards.

either you mis-read that or he modified the ad after you looked at it. It now reads 11-22 which, BTW is one hell of a cluster IMO. and a 56 up front. he's definitely right, you better have the legs. ***:

Hammering on the 56 x 11 combo @ 120 rpm?
He is pulling about 48 mph or so. Nice! That is seriously professional.

Is it even possible to have a 56/33 front chainring combination?
