How do the Dromarti shoes feels? I really like the look of them and have admired them for a little while now. Just unsure if the actual function of them will live up to the looks.

Oh, and that Moots on page 8 with the extra wide wheels is very hot!!!

Enough of the bamboo and wood bikes, already! :crap:

Would somebody please give use some more pics of the Bedford booth and bikes? And maybe that ultra-sexy HandleBra exhibit? I've seen exactly one pic so far of a Bedford bike and it's the cross bike we've already seen. I have also glimpsed the booth banner in the far background of a few images, but nothing more substantial . . . Kelly, where are you?

. . . looking for digital files for Ahneida Ride's bis cards for HandleBra so they can have some more made. Seems Ray took 500 cards to the show with him and has already run through them all by midway through Day 2! Kelly says Ray is "on fire" and selling 'Bra left and right with a crowd of groupies following him around like he's a rock star!

Kinda creepy mental image, but what the heck . . . :D

Ray and I had already been planning for this. Admittedly we were expecting this to happen after the show, not at it. Security details have already been mapped for this years Tour. Ray will be making the rounds at each stage with the stars and paparazzi in tow. I'll be covering his back.

I kid you not.

Nice pics. I'm a bit surprised that Porshe has not sent their lawyers to Sacha's place to have a chat about the SpeedVagen logo. Is it the Unicorn that provides legal protection?

Since it is well documented that Porsche cribbed the rampant horse from two sources themselves, that would be a hard case to make . . .

I agree. The lack of stickers/branding was refreshing. I think I'm gonna have to buy one this year.

As for Dario. He seemed to be trying very hard not be seen in his booth. He's perfected the "I'm busy, don't bother me" look.

Those are the best pictures of K. Bedford's bikes I have seen yet. Wow, very cool. Is that a stainless steel with the Lightweights and Serotta fork?

Have to say, the Cielo bikes look very nice as well.

K. Bedford, Cielo, Ellis---those look like the three most interesting to me.

They said it was a stainless front with standard rear triangle. I didn't think to ask why they chose to mix it. They had several other nice bikes, but these were the two that caught my attention.

Plenty of other nice bikes I didn't get a picture of. Ellis comes to mind. Carl Strong's green carbon cross bike was another. Probably because I knew it was out of my price range.

Somehow I walked the floor many times and never even looked at the Cielo bikes.

Kelly told me he wasn't happy with the stainless stays he had originally planned to use. I'm not sure what he was unhappy with, but the resulting bike is very nice.

Kelly's bikes were among the best in the show and that's saying a lot. Joe Bell was at Kelly's booth for a while and his paint jobs on Kelly's frames were as expected superb. There is another thread with lots more pics of the show here. (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=70587)

Ferrari's and Porsche's crests both have a horse standing on it's hind quarters ...Sacha's crest highlights das einhorn.

Exactly.

1. Count Francesco Baracca, WWI Italian Air Force ace, born in Lugo (RA), region of Emilia-Romagna.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/77/FBaracca_1.jpg/800px-FBaracca_1.jpg

2. Enzo Ferrari, by permission of the Count and Countess Baracca, since 1929.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d1/Ferrari-Logo.svg/344px-Ferrari-Logo.svg.png

3. Oliviero Gallegati/SOMEC bicycles, in agreement with Enzo Ferarri (Ferrari = tail up; SOMEC = tail down like the original Baracca emblem), since 1973.
http://www.refriedcycles.com/somec.gif

4. The Baracca prancing horse was also used briefly in +/- 1958-60 by Ducati, whose chief designer Fabio Taglioni was also born in Lugo. Ducati gave the logo up in agreement with Ferrari.
http://www.ducatimeccanica.com/other_images/hailwood_250_twin_1960.jpg

The above 3 logos were all used by agreement, and by both Ferrari and SOMEC in honor of Baracca, since Baracca, Ferrari and Gallegati are all from the region of Emilia-Romagna, and Baracca and Gallegati were both from the city of Lugo. It's a Lugo/Emilia-Romagna thing.

The Porsche logo is apparently based on the city of Stuttgart coat of arms. In the US, Iron Horse bikes certainly emulated the Ferrari prancing horse before Vanilla did.

the stainless bike in Kelly's booth is mine!!!!
Reynolds 953 main triangle. the reason for not using the 953 stays is mostly due to the fact that the ends of chainstays that plug into the BB lug are poorly shapped and leave large gaps between the inside of the lug and the tube OD that silver solder will not fill. makes for a pretty weak joint.
Kelly also believes that the stays would not make the rear of the bike stiff enough to give me the ride quality i like in my bikes.

Yes, Stuttgart (meaning a stud garden, for horse breeding) is intimately associated with horses, and from thus came the Porsche stallion emblem.

That front fender is way out of alignment. The front of the fender is barely clearing the tire and the back part is 3/4" or more away from the tire. I can't believe they wouldn't have fixed that once at the show.

Here's another sweet fillet-brazed Kirk from NAHBS 2008, and Mr. Kirk accepting the award for Best Fillet-Brazed at NAHBS 2008:

Thanks Dave and everyone who posted a link or two.

Wow!

I saw my future there. I mean, seriously, this could have been my bike for all intents and purposes. It's bizarre. :p

I don't have a skilled eye like Peter Weigle, but I have always preferred fillet-brazed to everything else and about all I can say here is: smooth as butter.

. . . so it's a cigar case? It looked to me like a 20mm armor-piercing ammo round or, uh, maybe something else . . . ;)
