I want a more horizontal stem for my new road bike. Currently I have a Ritchey with a rise to it, but what is pictured is more to my liking. http://i48.tinypic.com/2hropat.jpg
Can anyone tell me what angle this stem is?

Thx.

73 degrees.
Thanks. I like the Ritchey stem. I assume they make them in 73 degrees, correct?

Correctamundo. Parallel to the ground=73 degrees (or -17). And yes, I believe they're still available. Profile makes them as well, if I recall. Jeff N.

Maybe I'll get it in carbon, though I don't know if it's worth the extra $$$ for the minimal weight loss, and feel. Any ideas if it is?

no. get aluminum. ritchey only does -17 in the WCS series.

There is also a 3T ARX -17* stem. I prefer it to Ritchey aesthetically.

Here (http://www.thenew3t.com/details.aspx?i=road&t=Stems&p=arx&d=TEAM) is the one I purchased

Agreed, +73 / -17 degrees, which makes for a level stem given a 73 degree HT angle.

In the photo the stem appears to be pointing down a bit. That may be because the sloping TT of the Look frame provides a skewed frame of reference (no pun intended), or because the HT is steeper than 73 - although I doubt you'd notice were it 74.

Hope that helps -
Tim

Could it be that the camera didn't come with a level? ;)

How much are you willing to pay per gram for minimal weight loss?

The stem is a Ritchey 4-axis, painted gloss black to get rid of the logos. 73 degrees. The angle is an illusion. With a 73 degree stem and 72 degree HTA, it should not be pointed down.

Yeah...then again, no...

I do like those Easton carbon bars though -- the ones with the more classic drop. I'm not an ergo-type.
