Not cheap, not my style, but anything above wholesale goes to charity.

2 things,

1. What's with the double top tube, or top and middle tubing? I don't get it. The bike looks out of proportion for a 56cm because of this IMHO.

2. On the invoice, they have the saddle and seatpost listed twice. What the hell kind of quality control is that?

Oh, one more,

3. $210 bucks to put this puppy together seems like a lot, however with the cost of living in Walnut Creek, CA. it may not be.

Finally, I do like the lugs.

One thing about Riv that I do like - the HT badges are all pretty cool.

1.i really really like that bike. reminds me of the bikes built in the 20's and 30's. would be a great grocery getter and conversation piece.

2.ashame it is not my size!

3.good thing it isn't because i can't really justify a purchase at this time.

4.thanks for sharing with us.

Maybe the additional top tube is needed to support the extra long head tube? Maybe it is an attempt to be retro cool or something. In the olden days before 10 speeds hit the market, all mass market bikes had 2 top tubes.

That rig looks like it could make it through a nuclear war. Double tt is a bit visually confusing but the detail looks to be all there.

Looks like they had some spare pipe laying around the shop they needed to get rid of.

If you do a little research on the Riv site, you'll find that Grant puts the extra top tube on the larger size Bombadils because that is supposed to be their closest thing to a mountin bike and he feels it needs the extra support to stand up to a larger fella on trails.

FWIW- I can't stand the look of the extra top tube...
