View Full Version : Pegoretti Responsorium Build Ideas?

I'm pulling the final bits and pieces together for a Reponsorium I bought used from DarrenCT last year. The frame has the somewhat polarizing Ciavete paint (I happen to dig it).

I'm interested in folks' opinions on how to "dress it up" so to speak. It is going to get Record 10 and most likely Campy Neutrons.

Thoughts?

I went:

Chorus
Neutrons
King Headset
Deda Newton Bar
3T ARX Stem
Vittoria Open C's
Thompson 29.4
Fizik Ant

Love the frame.What fork?

Love the frame, love the paint. Personally, I wouldn't get too crazy with the rest of the build. The frame in and of itself makes a big enough statement! No need to go nuts with a white stem and post, etc. EC90 post, stem, bars, and fork, a white saddle, and white bar tape. Schwalbe Ultremo tires.

I really like the look of polished aluminum instead of the current craze for carbon and matte black. How about the Deda 100 stem in bright silver with a shiny bar and stem to match? It will provide nice contrast to Record and go well with your steel frame.

I'm assuming saddle and pedals are ergonomic rather than style choices, so those are really the only bits I have to comment on.

You could find some colored tires.

I'd stick with black post stem headset or ti would be nice as well. I think black seat and tape would look better than white even though I'm a white seat tape person generally. Although if you could find a brown saddle like the fizik and brown bar tape with ti post, stem I think that would look really good.

I probably should have indicated what I have already and/or what the frame came with:

WR Composites carbon post (Respos require an odd size)
Silver CK headset

I prefer Regal saddles, and I have white, black and a blue that I got from e-RICHIE that matches the blue in the frame pretty well.

Tires are unknown at this point, other than that the bike will ultimately have two.

How you sit on the bike is way more important than what you hang on it. It could be a great bike with 105 and a horrible bike with Super Record.

The only direct answer I'd offer is that the Edge forks are pretty nice. Add a Record or PMP seatpost as well.

A set of Edge 68's with conti GP4000 tubular tires. That would be a bad ass looking bike.

I have some white-to-neon-pink fade Pelten Shade tape I will donate to the cause if you make a commitment to gaudiness!

I would use black components with white tape and saddle.
I absolutely LOVE the paint on that frame!! If you need someone to test ride it for you please let me know :)

I dig it. It should look sweet about any way you build it. I'd agree some silver or gray Deda stuff and Campy.

A cheap can of Krylon should solve the paint problem.

Black Arione (for me, regal for you), black bar tape. 11s Campagnolo Super Record. Edge fork (unpainted), edge black seatpost (if fits), edge black pinline stem. Pro Vibe7 traditional bars (alloy). Edge 45 clinchers with black gp4000. Arundel stainless steel cages.

Go all white. White carbon bars, stem, seatpost, saddle and bar tape. Have Edge fork painted white with accents to match. Edge 6.8 with stickers removed. Campy 11. (am I done spending your money ;) )

That's the best looking Responsorium I've seen. Congrats. Do it up in black. Keep it Italian.

I would just hang it on the wall..... But then again, it rides as good as it looks.

+1. I agree. My fave Ciavete paint job so far. And keep it black so it frames the frame nicely and keeps it understated :).

Black parts. White is going to distract from the frame.

+1...was thinking silver, but since frame is mostly white, I would go with black to contrast the white. Plus since he already has black WR seatpost and nucleon wheels, would be perfect with maybe 3T black stem and round bars. Definitely need to use italian parts to round it out perfect.

With this frame...need to keep it simple and let the frame speak for itself and be the focal point.

A couple o' things:

Avoid colored tires. With that much activity on the frame, keep em black, or black/grey like the Pro Races.

Bar tape - white or black solid, same color as the saddle.

Unpainted fork, straight blade if available.

A bit of red on the Campy wheel logos will set off the frame colors nicely.
