I need to buy something I don't really need for my bike and I think this lightweight skewer might be it. Does anyone have experience using the KCNC skewers? I found a thread on Fairwheels site that related to slippage but the conclusion was it was operater error. any info appreciated.

I recently got a set of the new DT Swiss skewers and think they're one of the new wonders of the modern world! Not expensive, good looking and really work well. Hot stuff. http://www.competitivecyclist.com/mountain-bikes/product-components/2010-DT-Swiss-RWS-Quick-Release-Skewers-4026.458.1.html?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Google%2BBase&utm_campaign=Datafeed

I've used them on plenty of bikes and I've never had one issue with them. Their well made and lightweight.

I like this design as well. added plus is the no-brainer easy approach to angling your skewer as aesthtically desired after tightening.

Maybe if you are used to drinking high end Tequila $98.00 for a set of skewers is not high :D I am more the $6.00 a pair skewer guy. They do look nice though.

After Jack's "endorsement", I bought a set. I have a rear KCNC on my Bike Friday Tikit...the Tikit's front wheel is too narrow and takes a special skewer. I have the front on my Pocket Rocket Pro. Nice skewers.

You can find the DT Swiss skewers for less than that posted price if you shop around a bit.

I think they've written that KCNC skewers are their best selling item.

One of the "name" builders recommended the newer Far and Near skewers.
They are supposed to be designed by the same engineer responsible for the KCNC design.

They're also available from Fairwheel.

Steve-who only shares second hand knowledge in this post, but will be getting some Far and Near skewers for the new wheels and has no connection to Fairwheel other than we're both located in Tucson and I drink beer at the same establishment as Fairwheel's owner on Thursday nights

Same here...

They're actually a pretty basic design.

Why not just go for the Tune skewers?

use web site (http://www.use1.com/product/000064/tula-spin-stix/)
i love them the web site says you can use the same one for mountain and road so they should be strong enough for road use and a 175 pound rider and can get from total cycling for 53 dollars and they weigh 55 to 57 grams totalcycling (http://www.totalcycling.com/index.php/product/parts_accessories/skewers/use_spinstix.html)
