Thinking of having my Sachs (http://i49.tinypic.com/ou2l91.jpg) painted with a few modifications: fender eyelets (w/ painted fenders), pump peg added and drilled for recessed brake mount. I'd also like to have the period correct decals, not the current style.

Right now I'm looking at Keith Anderson, Bilenky, Circle A and maybe CyclArt. My budget is about $500.

Does Richard/Joe Bell offer this kind of service?

Anyone care to share their experiences with these or any other shops?

Pics please!!

Unfortunately Jon is no longer in the business. Too bad.

Elliott Bay Cycles in Seattle does that kind of work, and they do a beautiful job.

Their price list quotes $400 for a "standard repaint"; it goes from there is you start adding panels, frame work, decals, etc.

I see their restorations in their shop all the time; they're great. Forum member North Bend just had a custom Bruce Gordon restored by them and it's fantastic.

Joe Bell for sure in terms of understanding the RS details. He will do minor repairs and add the features that you mentioned...he might even have the old school decals.

Good luck with yours. It is well worth the expense and wait..

Joe Bell works with Bill Holland to do frame repairs and modifications. I sent my CSI to Joe 2 years ago and it was definitely worth it to me. They can definitely add fender eyelets, the pump peg and recess the brake mounting holes, if that is possible. His work is spectacular, but I doubt you'll be able to get everything you want from him for a $500 budget. I came across Circle A across the hall who you already mentioned. They look like they do nice work too and may be worth checking out:

CircleA (http://www.circleacycles.com/)

If you can find someone local that will help your budget. Shipping a frame with insurance can run you $60-$75 each way.
