expander plu necessary for fork w/aluminum steerer?

hello. do i need an expander plug for a cf fork w/an alu. steerer?

(sorry for dumb question--i assume yes, but really don't know since i've always had all-carbon reynolds forks and used their oem expander plugs.)

i'm using a chris king headset, if that matters...and hoping to get at least 62,000 miles out of mine. :D

You can use a star nut in an aluminum steerer, but if you have an extra expander, I assume you can use it, too.

Use the CK supplied SFN(Star Fangled Nut).
