Any difference in Force shifters other than paint job?

The paint alone has got to be good for another 10 watts at threshold. Reason enough right there.
Also, I thiiiiink 2010 added zero-loss on the front. Couldn't swear to that, though.

Effin A! 10 watts.
That will almost power the compact fluorescent bulb that pops up every time I come up with a way to make fun of people.

Functionally exactly the same as the '09 model as far as I know. I still don't understand why someone would spend the money on Force when Rival is the same thing plus a (very) few grams - the exception being the crank. I guess that the situation would be the same if SRAM added Zero-Loss to the Force rear shifter...

I'm upgrading at the suggestion of a mechanic/Cat 1 racer.
New bike comes with Rival everything. He said the 1 thing he'd upgrade is the shifters to Force.

If covered over I doubt you could tell the difference. Same innards.

I've not owned a SRAM bike yet but that seems to be the consensus.
I've bugged a bunch o people about precisely the same thing trying to decide which group to try. Seems as tho functionally the 2010 SRAM is essentially the same across the board.... functionally.

Don't bother - leave everything as-is and save your money.

Can't give you a comparison on the 09 vs 10. Everything I have learned about SRAM has come from net articles, forums and the SRAM site. I was however intrigued enough to go out and try the different groups. The shifter throw on the Rival felt like it was longer, shifting was crisp. I could not distinguish any difference between Force and Red. The shifting is lightening fast and oh so very smooth, front and rear. Another detail I was impressed with was having the trim om the large ring. Counter-intuitive but it works very well. I purchased the 2010 Force group ----- no regrets here. Lp
