A stupid question about bottle cage bolts

I just picked up my NOS Colnago Mapei C40 from the shop. Only thing missing was the cages. After spending 20 minutes trying every cage bolt available none fit. Frame is a year 2000. Can someone point me in the right direction as to which bolt will work?

So are you saying that they are not the standard m5 bolts used on most frames?

Yes. their smaller than the standard bolts.

I once had this same bike (albeit, a few sizes larger) many, many bikes ago. As I remember, it was a really nice bike!
